HAMILTON, ON – Yesterday the City of Hamilton undertook cost-containment efforts across the organization to help mitigate a $20M budget pressure. The exercise involved some restructuring resulting in both the elimination and repurposing of 28 City management and support positions. The outcome will be approximately $3.3million in permanent savings annually and moves the City towards the target set by Council of 1.8% tax increase in the operating budget.

City Manager, Chris Murray, will be holding a media conference this afternoon at City Hall from 1:30pm to 2:00pm to answer questions from the media.
