Tuesday June 23, 2015 marks the night we will celebrate our local senior volunteers at Hamilton’s 2015 Senior of the Year Awards and Gala event.  It is a night to celebrate, network and acknowledge the outstanding volunteer contributions seniors have made to enrich the social, cultural or civic life of our community.  The Awards and Gala Event will be held at Michelangelo’s Events and Conference Centre, and over 600 people are expected to be in attendance.

Each year we recognize one outstanding volunteer, who is awarded “Senior of the Year” by the province of Ontario. Additional awards have been developed to acknowledge senior volunteers who have contributed in a variety of areas:

Bernie Morelli Lifetime Achievement               Leadership

Innovation                                                  Compassion and Companionship

Behind the Scenes                                       Economic Leadership

Diversity and Cultural                                   Healthy and Active Living

The planning committee is currently in the nomination phase for the awards.  Last year we received 60 nominations, which is a phenomenal number. We want to keep the momentum going.  We rely on local organizations to nominate their well deserving senior volunteers.  However, your assistance by getting the word out to your friends would be greatly appreciated.  A nomination package can be picked up at the Glanbrook or Stoney Creek Municipal Service Centre’s or contact us and we’ll email you a copy or you can print one from the Web by going to
