Olde Blackheath Hamlet
1952 - Mail Carrier
Mrs. Derwyn Young and her husband have two of the Glanford Station rural mail routes. Mr. Young is the third generation of the family to deliver the mail. The first rural route out of Glanford was started by his grandfather, John Young, and was later handled by his father, Leon Young.
1952 - One of the Oldest
Thomas Gowland, 70, is one of the oldest men in the Blackheath community. Born on a nearby farm, and a lifelong resident of the vicinity, he has seen great changes.

Mrs. Thomas Gowland, 70, the former Jessie Greenhill, was born near Blackheath and has lived there all her life. She is active in the church and community welfare work.
1952 - The Glanford Post-Mistress
Mrs. Alma Young has been in the Glanford Station Post Office for 33 years. Four rural routes from this office serve some 300-odd families in the surrounding farming communities.
1952 - Rural Mail Man
Charles Ashbaugh, 80, of Glanford Station, has been delivering a rural mail route from there for over 30 years and is still on the job. He was born at Glanford, as was his father.
1952 - Tyneside Trading Centre
The little community of Tyneside, situated between Blackheath and Glanford Station, like most other rural centres, has its little grocery store. It is owned by Bruce Timson, whose grandfather, Andrew Reed, is seen waiting on a customer, Victor Laidman, of Binbrook Township.
1952 - Quiet Now, Blackheath Corner Once Busy
In the early days of the Blackheath community a hotel, blacksmith shop, wagon shop, and other places of business stood at this now quiet corner on Highway 56. Today, all that remains of the old days is the general store seen at the left. It is said to be over 100 years old.

Mrs. Thomas Smiley is assistant to her husband who has been postmaster at Blackheath for the last 13 years. Mr. Smiley took over the office on the death of Athur Johnson

Mrs. Cleland Mitchell, who's father, Elmer Johnson, owned the Blackheath general store some 30 years ago, was paying an account to W. J. Moore, present storekeeper, when the cameraman came along.
